My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 469 Proper Power Shot

They were slowly gaining control of the pitch just like they do in almost all of their matches but all that meant nothing when Spree City still had the lead.

They had to get that equalizer quickly because Spree City were slowly starting to switch to a more defensive style of play.

When the match entered the sixtieth minute without his team coming up with anything, Norman decided to make a couple of changes.

An attempt from Felix was sent flying over the bar from outside the box in the sixty-first minute and that was his cue to bring on the players he wanted to bring on.

The first substitution was bringing off Pirlo and replacing him with Merino because he was really needed down that right-wing so that Ferran could return to his position.

And then finally, for now, Frankie had to come on to replace Martinez.

The midfielder received quite a standing ovation from the fans as he made his way to the pitch.

After not seeing him for a while, the fans were really glad to have him get this much play time once again.

He\'s been back in the squad for a while now but Norman had only been bringing him on around the eightieth to eighty-fifth minute because he wanted to give him more time to recover before he would start bringing him in earlier in matches and it looked like he had finally made up his mind to do so today.

"Finally bringing on Frankie when there\'s still a lot of playtime left, the midfielder was exceptional for Unique FC before his injury, I hope he hasn\'t lost his mojo," Jim commented.

"Spree City will be hoping for the opposite but let\'s watch and see." Steve expressed.

With the substitution now done, it was now time for the game to resume.

Dave was standing over the ball which was placed on the edge of the six-yard box, and as soon as he heard the referee\'s whistle, he quickly sent the ball flying down the middle.

Ferran had Dennison quickly heading toward him as the ball happened to be heading his way but before he could get to him, he sent the ball flying to Frankie with a header.

"Frankie gets his first touch on the ball."

As soon as the midfielder got his foot on the ball, he quickly moved a little to the right with it before passing it to Minino.

"Minino."

Minino pushed a little forward with the ball before he sent it rolling to Ferran who quickly turned with it to find Mateo down the left.

"Mateo."

Mateo didn\'t try to make any move with the ball and just pushed it back to Roland before moving into the box.

Roland moved a little further with the ball before he sent it rolling to Ferran who quickly tried to find Mateo inside the box with a lob but one of the defenders in the area was able to nod the ball back and stop it from getting to the winger.

Minino was fast enough to get to the ball just before Dennison could, and without hesitation, he quickly sent the ball rolling to Merino down the right.

The winger quickly took off down the wing with the ball but the left-back was hot on his trail and wasn\'t giving him any space to do anything.

After almost moving the ball out for a goal kick, he had to turn back and send the ball rolling back to Minino who found Frankie closing up down the middle and sent the ball rolling to him.

As soon as Frankie got his foot on the ball, Dennison quickly rushed to him to try and take the ball from him but the midfielder was able to get past him by flicking the ball a little to the right before connecting with it once again to keep moving down the middle with it.

"Nicely gets past Dennison."

Frankie kept on moving with the ball and it looked like he was going to take on everybody on but once but of the centre backs along with Dennison from behind surrounded him, he knew that wasn\'t going to be easy.

He was just about to send the ball to Mateo down the right when one of the defenders quickly closed up on him and sent him tumbling on the floor with a ferocious tackle.

"Uh oh."

The midfielder was on the floor now clutching onto his feet as the referee blew his whistle and quickly made his way to the one responsible for the foul.

Minino was always going to get involved whenever any of his teammates got tackled like that and this time was no exception.

It looked like a fight was about to break out between him and the defender who brought Frankie down because he was not remorseful any way even after getting a yellow card from the referee.

Their teammates had to step in to prevent anything from going on.

"Were you trying to kill him? He just came back from an injury, don\'t you know that?!" Minino\'s voice was going up now just like his temper.

"And how am I supposed to know that?" The other side responded.

"Don\'t worry, I\'ll show you!"

The midfielder was trying to break free from his teammates\' grip now but they weren\'t going to let him go do something stupid although a few of them wanted him to just go do it.

Anyway, the both of them got really lucky, it was any other referee, they might have gotten sent off.

"Oh, boy that was something but I guess it\'s sort of understandable from Minino\'s side, Frankie just came back from an injury and that tackle looked quite deliberate." Jim articulated.

While the players were arguing, Roland rushed to check up on his teammate before the medical team could get to him on the pitch.

After a few check up on him, he was able to get up on his feet.

The fans and his teammates breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that he was okay but a majority of the fans still thought that the defender deserved a red card instead of yellow.

"Looks like Frankie will be able to continue, that\'s good news for Unique FC."

"Yeah, and now Unique FC have a free kick in a good spot."

Just as promised, Mateo turned to Dave and called to him with a gesture.

"Looks like Mateo\'s leaving this one for the goalkeeper." Jim commented.

<That\'s your cue>

"Yeah." The goalkeeper muttered before he quickly began to make his way to the area.

"The goalkeeper has taken four free kicks so far, he scored two, assisted with one and missed one, that\'s a pretty good free kick record, will he make it better better with his fifth one?"

The goalkeeper was standing over the ball now twenty five yards away from the goalpost with his gaze on the four man wall at the edge of the box.

"I think the odds are in his favor, for a goalkeeper, his accuracy is insanely broken and his shot power is something else, if FIFA chooses to make his stats exactly as he is in the next version of their game then a lot of people would just play him in midfield or attack." Steve articulated.

All he was waiting for now was the referee\'s whistle, and as soon as he heard it, he slowly took three steps backward before taking a deep breath.

\'One, two, three.\'

As soon as he finished that countdown in his head, he quickly closed up on the ball and fired it straight toward the top right hand corner.

He did not hold back on his shot, this was what you would call a proper power kick.

"Dave!"

The goalkeeper dived toward the ball just as he sent it out, but the speed and power was just too much for him to deal with as the ball ended up hitting the crossbar before flying right into the goalpost.

"And he slots it in right into the top bin! They have their equalizer!"

That goal had the fans of their feet and even some of the away fans couldn\'t help but applaud him.

Minino didn\'t even give him the time to react to his goal and straight up jumped on him.

"I think it\'s confirmed now, Dave\'s a free kick master."
